What is Search Engine and how it works?

Advertising Online

A search engine is a information database system that helps users to find websites they are looking for on the web. There are different search engines available like Google, Yahoo and Msn etc. Whatever the information you want to search, type that keyword in the search box and press enter button. After hitting the button you will get millions of results (websites) related to your keyword and you can select any of the website as you want.so search engine is nothing but a database where it stores large amount of website.

How it works?

Search Engine is like a library where u go to search a particular book in a library where there is collection of large amount of books. Search Engine is also like a library where there is collection of large number of website and when u type any keyword then millions of websites will be retrieve by search engines.

Search Engine is made of a automated software called Crawler, Spider of bots. Now what this software will do, they will search all the websites on the web, they not only search but also analyze the content of the websites and store into the database.it means that on web there are billions, millions of websites are present so what this software will do, they will analyze the content and categorize these websites into different databases like literature, education, tours and travels etc. and finally indexing is done. Now in indexing this software will analyze the content and find out the important keywords related to websites.

I think you might get confused so I will give you simple example:

Now suppose you want to search information related to MBA institutes in particular city so you will type that keyword into search engines search box, now what this search engine will do, it will search different databases and find out MBA related database where in that all websites related to MBA are included and then it will try to match your keyword with the website keywords. Those websites keywords matches with your keyword that websites will be retrieve for you.
