Link exchange is a method of trading link with other websites. There are many ways to do that but the most common way is to whom you want to do link exchange, go to their websites contact us page, take their email and write email to them about link exchange. If they feel after performing link exchange with you, will increase traffic of their website then they will say yes but if yours and their site are two different websites which doesn’t increase their traffic then they will say No to you.
Link exchange is very important thing to increase your page rank but to whom you are exchanging link must be related to yours websites or somewhat associated with yours websites.
Example: suppose your website is related to dogs and you are exchanging link to the website which is related to pickles then search engine may not find favorable to with it but if the link exchange is with the cats site then that would be acceptable so if you want to consider link exchange with the other site that is similar or associated with yours site otherwise it will affect your search engine ranking.
There are link exchange directories available with a list of sites that are looking for other sites to link exchange with. Some of the web link directories charge a fee in order to gain access to their databases. There are some free web link directories that are free, you just have to search for them.
